Village Maintenance Working Group

Now that Covid restrictions have been relaxed the Parish Council is hoping to re-start the Village Maintenance Working Group and need your help.

Previously a volunteer group has got together to tackle individual problems like the overgrown bank at Sandleaze play area or planting trees from the Woodland Trust. From next spring the council is looking to set up a permanent working group which will meet each month and undertake any maintenance work that is not currently performed by Wiltshire Council. Type of work could include hedge cutting at the play areas, planting, cutting back an overgrown footpath, maintaining the benches, new village projects etc. etc. One of the first tasks of the group will be to identify what is needed in the village over the year.

Maybe you have some surplus tools you could donate, the Parish Council have looked at purchasing a brush cutter but if anyone has one going spare then those funds could be used for something else.

What would be really useful to the working group is somewhere in the village to securely store the tools where they can easily be accessed.
If you can help either as a volunteer, have spare tools or a secure store then please email Councillor Malcolm Powell.

Also any suggestions for what you would like the Village Maintenance Working Group to do would be very welcome.

Many Thanks
Cllr Malcolm Powell malcolm@worton.org.uk
